Slightly desperate...

Hello people,

It's me again. Laying in bed like a dying walrus right now...my hips and knees are incredibly painful right now, and this wasn't supposed to happen as I was on 5mg Prednisolone per day. That worked fine for about 3 weeks, until Tuesday night. I went to the doctor today, and he drew some blood in the hopes to find something.

Also, he increased my dose of Prednisolone...he said that normally, he would put me on MTX (Methotrexate) if I was 20 years older, but since I am only 17 he thinks that's not the best idea. Anyone here who has any experience with MTX or started taking it at quite a young age? I am just so desperate because this is the last try for cortisone to stop my joint pains...I just want it to not hurt anymore because it simply interferes with everything.

That doesn't make sense to me as youngsters of below that age are prescribed Metotrexate for Juvenile RA.

Was this your Rheumatology Consultant, or your GP?

It was my GP-I don't have Rheumatology Consultant yet, as the ones in my area don't want to take in new patients.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it.

GPs can't prescribe MTX, they have to refer you to a rheumatologist. I hope your GP can sort you out with one.

I certainly hope so as well, as the cortisone is not really helping so far and I am only alive because of aspirin. Walking stairs is hell when your hips and knees are hurting :(
