Combination medication

Hi everyone

I am taking Olanzapine and have found it doesn't give me many side effects, which is great. But I am still struggling with intrusive thoughts related to my psychotic break. I am wondering if anyone has ever taken a combination of antipsychotics as that was given as an option at my last medication review. On Ablify I had very bad side effects but during the day didn't have the psychotic type of thoughts (but had them at night as couldn't sleep).

I'm wondering if I should take a combination of more than one antipsychotic to help address the lingering psychotic thoughts. Would be very interested if anyone else has done this and how it went.

I haven't but have you considered taking slightly higher dose of olanzapine? Even 5mg could take off the edge

I'm at the maximum dosage of 20mg already

I'd speak to your doctor I was on maximum dose of olanzapine and struggling and they suggested trying a different antipsychotic entirely but I turned a corner so I didn’t change in the end

That's amazing that you managed to find the right medication for you. Can I ask what dosage you take and how long it took you to turn a corner? I have been taking it about 4 weeks now and have read it can take 4 to 6 weeks to fully work.

I'm sorry I suffered blackouts while in MBU so don't remember exactly but it was definitely weeks rather than days I was on 20mg and was told they were going to change it and I think about 5 days later they said it was okay to stay on olanzapine hang in there hope it settles soon ❤️🤞💖
