Hello Granolalover7777

I just replied to your earlier post. These early weeks are so difficult and exhausting and it’s important to lean on as much support as is available to you.

If you do feel like your mental health could be slipping, do reach out to your local mental health team so they can put additional support in place. It’s so important that you’re able to rest.

If you don’t have a number to call, NHS111 is there 24/7 and will be able to signpost you. In an emergency or if you ever feel unsafe, don’t hesitate to call emergency services or get yourself to A&E.

With best wishes,

Jenny x

Hi Granolalover7777

Congratulations on the birth of your second bundle of joy.

I’m sorry you suffered PP following the birth of your first child and can imagine how anxious you must be. I wonder as it is only three weeks since you gave birth whether you can talk about your concerns with the perinatal team, or your CPN if she is visiting?

After my first son was born many years ago I suffered PP four weeks after giving birth. Six years later we welcomed our second son. During my psychosis I had delusions that my husband was trying to harm me, which he certainly wasn’t but it was all very real at the time.

I wonder if as well as your care team you might find it helpful to contact Women’s Aid at womensaid.org.uk. Under Get Help you can see the support they offer. There are live chats from Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 18.00 or Saturday and Sunday 10.00 am to 18.00. Or perhaps Samaritans, there 24/7 on 116 123.

Most of all please take good care of yourself. It’s not easy coping with a newborn and finding any time for yourself. I hope you have family or friends you can turn to as well as all of us here. Stay safe 🌻

Hello Granolalover7777, I am so sorry to read your plea, you should not have to feel this way. Sleep and rest is fundamental for you to keep well.

I am wondering if you have been recently in contact with your perinatal team and if you can ask if there is a possibility for you to go to the local mother and baby unit, in order to prevent you deteriorating further? You sound exhausted and very much at the end of your tether. I know you also have to think about your eldest, and this is not a straightforward decision, but it may be another option?

Do keep talking to your team and health visitor and letting them know how you feel. Thinking of you,

Maria
