I'm just writing to let you all know that we have a new guide, available to download for free from our website, 'Being a parent after postpartum psychosis'.
We really hope this will be a helpful guide for us all. It was written with families who have experienced postpartum psychosis, as well as clinicians and experts.
I just read this guide about being a parent after PP. I’m glad it includes a section on what to say to your daughter when she’s thinking of being a mother herself. That’s where we are - she has a 3 year old son and we’ve talked about it. She did not have PP after the first child but is thinking she won’t risk a second, as she did have some PD.
Well done to you and everyone who put this together- it’s really useful and well written.
I’m 6 years on now but looking back, one thing that really would have helped me 5 years ago is just this kind of guide, focused on getting back to work after PP. The combination of ongoing medication, shattering loss of confidence and also just being a new Mum meant this was a really challenging time for me, and I would really have appreciated a practical PP focused guide like this. Maybe one to consider in the future?
Thanks again for all the great work you guys do - it is hugely appreciated
