I have been reading another book called Complex PTSD, From Surviving to Thriving. In it, there are comments that there is a high incidence of Complex PTSD being misdiagnosed as being Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar and Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I have been misdiagnosed as having most diagnosis in the DSM.
I have been in touch again with the Open University where I am studying. I am going on to get my Diploma next year in Mental Health Awareness/Health and Social Care and Psychology. I get my Degree the year after that, and I have enquired about doing my Masters, as I would like to support ladies who have had Perinatal Mood Disorders in the future. What do you ladies think my chances are?

I think that is amazing! There is so much to teach others about mental health and specifically PP. I remember being in the hospital asking one of the nurses what I had. I remember asking if I was bipolar and she was like yep thats what you have. It gave me a sense of relief at the time knowing it would be treatable, but I didn't even stop to think if she was right or not! It shocks me that nurses would throw around diagnoses like that, even to a patient in distress. Bipolar is a lifelong but treatable illness. She didn't know better but she should know that she is not a psychiatrist and able to diagnose. In any case, all the power to you and all the best!
