Hiya all I'm not too sure if I'm suffering with postpartum psychosis as I have been told I should go to the doctors due to me hallucinating and already have postnatal depression can anyone give me some advice?

Hello Rachaemills

Welcome to the forum where you will find lots of help and support. Congratulations on the birth of your baby. I'm sorry you have postnatal depression which must be very tiring. I had PP many years ago with hallucinations which was all very frightening at the time. There then followed what seemed like an endless depression which was very hard to cope with.

I think you have been given good advice to go to your doctor as he / she will be able to reassure and help you. You might find the frequently asked questions page here helpful as it gives an idea of early symptoms of PP at app-network.org/what-is-pp/....

I'll keep this reply short as I know when I had depression it was hard to concentrate. I hope you have support around you. Take good care of yourself ..... we are all here to lean on.

You're very welcome Rachaemills :) I hope your doctor will be able to help you. If you are in the UK perhaps PANDAS (pre and postnatal depression advice and support) might also be a helpful contact at pandasfoundation.org.uk/. Take care.
