Hi, I am so afraid and anxious, they have found microcalcificacions in my last mammogram and they want to do an MRI scan. Could someone tell me if the had the same experience and what to expect. Thank you.

Hello :-)

I can imagine the fear you will be feeling as when we have anxiety we fear all the time tell us something is slightly different and we are straight to the worse scenario possible and anxiety really comes out to play

I have just had a heart attack well 6 weeks ago and the fear now of having another one is of the scale !

When ever I go for a monogram I am a right state , but what you have said they saw I believe is quite common and even more so as you get older and just about all the time it is nothing but they do this just to double make sure

I have not had this done so I can't say what it will be like but doubtful it will be a bad procedure at all and I would tell them about your anxiety and how you feel I always do and most of the time I find they do their best to support and reassure me so do not feel you have to try and hold it all in tell them

I am sure you will be fine even though I know me saying that will maybe not help but as people keep trying to tell me even though I don't feel it how lucky I am the Hospital was there and I got there and they sorted me out and I know deep down we are lucky that we have this care and they are so good at what they do so you will be in ver safe hands :-)

Let us know how you get on and if you need to keep talking about it just pop on you will get through this :-)

Take Care x

Are they milk of calcium calcifications or did the doctor say? They’re usually crescent shaped like a tea cup if they’re milk of calcium. Are they in a pattern or just scattered? I have calcifications show up every time I have a mammogram. I have to have a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound every time. If you have fibrocystic breasts then calcifications will likely be there and will probably be milk of calcium. That’s a benign condition and not cancer. Was there a cyst also? That’s often a sign of fibrocystic breasts as well.
