Went to the doctors today because iv been getting headaches and painful neck for 3 Months , he said they were tension headaches. My question is is anyone else on this and is 10mg enough because it doesn't seem like a good dose to rid me of my headaches.

I've not heard of Amitryptaline for headache pain, but I knew someone who took a high dose for depression. She called it her mood pills. I tried it once for anxiety but it made me more anxious so I stopped after a few weeks. I too have the stiff/sore neck especially at night and upon waking and health anxiety. If you are not comfortable with the Meds and how you feel I would call your doc and discuss it. I have had bad headaches most of my life. One doc says its Migrane, stress and sinus. Had an Mri yrs ago and they said my sinus tubes were half the normal size and would cause pain when inflamed from allergies. Not much one can do about that. Hope you feel better, and I would call the doc.
Hi, I was prescribed amitriptyline for after pain shingles (10mg)...increased to 25 mg after a bit. Tobe honest didn't notice much difference in effect - still got pain and itch after 6 months. Loathe to go any higher dose so trying to think positive and tell myself " It WILL get better" hope you get rid of headache, maybe a higher dose will work... mg still considered low
