I were on 3mg of Warfarin for a considerable time for AF which on a couple of occasions hospitalised me, on the last occasion gave me a pulse of 190 to 220, quite a while ago now, then a few months ago I were taken off Warfarin and prescribed 20mg 1 daily of Rivaoxaban, why such a high comparison dose to the Warfarin, and could I safely take Glucosamine for joints while on Rivaoxaban.

20 mg is the standard dose for rivaroxaban - everybody has that unless and until they are put on the maintenance dose of 10 mg. You can certainly take glucosamine - there's not much you can't take with it, except perhaps turmeric and St John's wort. Only do remember to take it with food, or you'll have appalling indigestion!
Thank you very much for you’re expert information, kind regards Glyn.
Only expert in that I've been on rivaroxaban over 6 years now! It works differently to warfarin, so no need to watch what you eat, and only ones blood test a year for liver and kidney function.
Thank you mrsredboots for reassuring me.
Hi
Rivaroxaban can upset your digestive system if you are susceptible to this, apixaban is said to be better. 20mg is the standard dose of Rivaroxaban, but 2*5mg is standard with apixaban.
None of the anticoagulants treat the symptoms of AF, they do help prevent blood clots which help prevent some strokes.
Check with your cardiologist, but mine recommended changing the dosage of your medication rather then restricting types of food.
My advantage is that I self test at home and have a dosage guide to assist me in maintaining my INR range of 2.5-3.5
