Hi, im nearing the end of my treatment for P.E's and was just wondering if the hospital will arrange another ct scan to check they have cleared. Or would it be best if I asked my doctor to arrange this? Or do they just go on the assumption they have cleared?
Thanks

With me no they didn't do another CT scan to see if there were problems but I'm not sure what the procedure is where you live.
I paid for a private consultation a few weeks after diagnosis as I felt as if I’d had my anticoagulant changed and then left to ‘get on with it’ by my GP. This doctor arranged for another Doppler scan to be done which showed the two clots had dissolved. Still having pain months later, on compression now so I’m considering asking for another Doppler if it worsens. The short answer I would say is to go back to your doctor and tell him your concerns but if you have no symptoms, I doubt he could justify a referral. Go with your gut feeling and stick to your guns if worried.
I can’t think they would as think they would be thinking about the cost of the scan! I never had a scan until they suspected a DVT! You would be better asking your doctor, hope you get sorted.
Hi chev82 I finished my treatment at the end of September after a PE in both lungs. I have had no follow up appointments or scans. Absolutely nothing- best wishes
Hi Chev82 I'm absolutely fine now, that's probably why I'm not pushing for a follow up scan. I wouldn't hesitate if I was having problems. I hope they find out what caused yours, just for peace of mind.
