Waiting Surgery and whacky INR result

Hi, I'm new here! I had an AVR about 6 years ago now and am on warfarin. I have been diagnosed with a gallstone and am waiting on surgery. I ahve my first appointment on thw 3rd of Devcember, I had my INR done this morning at clinic and its double what it usually is. I havent been eating properly, because i cant or dont want to but i am going to have to force myself to eat correctly because of it causing issues with my INR. I really want my own machine so i can self test but no one seems to want to listen to me Fingers crossed i hear soon about surgery - just want to go back to my normal.

If you want your own machine you will have to by it yourself.cost 300 pounds.the test strips you may or may not get on prescription depending on your local health bord and gp.find out before you buy the machine.put forword a good case to your gp.say you will supply machine if thay supply strips

I considered buying my own m/c but couldn't find any at £300?...400 plus is all I could find...roche have the monopoly on them,no competion= higher prices.

Roche sell them direct .cost 299 pounds.for long term medical use you do not pay vat .they are vat free.go to roche coauguchek xs website

As Coagucheck approved by NICE, if you live in England, you should get your strips on prescription

I have my own machine it’s a Roche coaguchek XS and I get my needles and test strips on prescription but had to have the ccg ok them on prescription. Go on Roche website cos they are expensive but they sometimes do deals and you can pay in instalments. Make sure your doctor agrees for you to go on it. I go to hospital once a year to check machine reading with hospital reading . Hope this helps xx
