You will know in yourself when you are ready to go back to work and its difficult to say how long you will need to rest as we all recover at a different pace.

That sounds like a problem job! I'm no expert but the advice from my doc was:

Lose weight (lots in my case - maybe not relevant to you!)

walk / get other exercise as much as possible

Put leg up when sitting, at least on a chair - as much as possible

Move foot up and down (heel on floor) when leg up not possible

Get up and walk around a bit in house / bar or whatever every hour or so

I also have a support stocking which I wear when in house.

I'm fortunate as I've never had pain - just swollen leg when diagnoseds. If I've been still for too long it gets a bit tense and I know to move - up & down stairs a couple of times usually does the trick.

Given all of that, I reckon it depends what sort of lorry driving you're doing - can you get frequent breaks? You really need some expert advice!

I was told to do nothing with impact and no exercise for about 3 months. HOWEVER being in a static position, esp with a 90degree bend in your hip and calf are also horrible. They told me to elevate it for about 20 minutes an hour. and to do a bit of walking just around the house for blood flow. I was also wearing compressions stalking. It takes minimum 4 months for the clots to calcify where they no longer are a danger or moving. This is what I was told, but I would go see a vascular surgeon for sure to get a definite answer for your circumstance.

Just shows each case is different. I only had the 90 degree thing while in hospital for observation after being diagnosed, and even then I was encouraged to walk around the corridors after first 2 days (fortunately only 5 altogether).

My diagnosis was 4 months ago and I've been walking av 5km a day, swimming, and pilates from day 1 after discharged (I'm fortunate as don't work). It was the kick up the bum for a total change of lifestyle - I've also lost 20kg! Dopler test last week showed "a bit left" when I asked the lady who did it - got a review on Monday to get more info but sounds like all going well (no pun intended!).
