Second DVT?

I’ve had one ‘soft provoked’ DVT 8 months ago, took apixaban for 3 months and been fine. Two days ago I started a small horizontal red patch on the same calf but this time much nearer the surface - ie I can feel it is harder around the red patch. Is not painful but can feel it. Am seeing the doctor later today - any thoughts?

I'm looking into the option to switch from Warfarin to Apixaban. I have been on Warfarin for 4 months (since my February DVT). I'm on anticoagulants for life bc this is my second event (13 years ago I had a DVT-same leg, while pregnant).

How have you gotten along with Apixaban? Would you recommend it? Did you start with Warfarin? Would appreciate your experience. I'm at my wits end with Coumadin--- still checking weekly after 4 months--- cannot eat my healthy meals due to Vitamin K concerns-- and weight gain.

Thanks in advance! - N

Hi - thanks for posting. I only ever had apixaban so others may be better giving their views. However, I took it for three months and didn’t notice it - so I guess that’s a good thing!

Thank you... that's reassuring though. I'm scheduling a follow up with a second Hematologist to consult on whether or not it's worth the change for me. I really struggle with the dietary restrictions with Vitamin k on warfarin. Hopefully Apixaban will be a go for me! Thanks again! Wishing you the best and continued healing and wellness!
