I am on rivaroxaban. Started March this year and I have begun to notice anxiety and nervousness for no reasons. Could this be a side-effect of my med.?
Anxiety is spontaneous and chest tightens. I used to think a heart attack was coming.
Wondering if this is a known/common occurrence.

If it were me I would look at the information leaflet inside the packet, but don't forget it might be something else, I would see a Doctor.
If you ever look up anything medical on the web, make sure it's from an nhs site
I had been on Warfarin for the usual 6-months after my first DVT & PE and was OK for about a year but then had another DVT in January 2017 . I was offered Warfarin again or the option of taking Riveroxaban which I have tried and found it to be more user friendly and so far no side affects. I also take daily Vitamin D supplements and Anondronic Acid once per week as I have osteoporosis. I have got an appointment with a Haematologist next week to try to find out if I have a blood disorder as they do not know why I am getting repeat DVT'S.
Hello sorry to hear you are suffering , I changed it after 10 weeks as it made me very unwell lots of pain in my legs , & I really felt it made me more anxious & caused chest pain. Hope you can sort things so & you start feeling better
Hi, having a PE is massive and scary i had 5 clots in one lung 10 years ago and i suffered severe anxiety for 7 years after (i got another dvt) are you sure you're not anxious and having panic attacks? see your GP it may not be the meds and seeing a counsellor may help.
Hi, it sounds more like a general anxiety and nerves..
I know what your all going through had my first blood clot at the age of 21-22 and subsequently went on to have another 9 aswell aswell as a mini stroke the second year..
Its a shock to your system these are big life events and it can leave you nervous and panicky, I'd check with your doctor and see a counselor just to talk through what you've experienced.
I was on warfrin for 10years and will be on anticoulagents for the rest of my life, whilst on Warfrin my INR fluctuated so bad I was in the range of 3.5-4.5 which is quiet high (I've never had a diagnosis it's just one of these things that happen)
I've been taking Riveroxaban for 4years now and touch wood never had a P. E as of yet.
Neither has the anxiety kicked up either, when I first changed over I couldn't get my head round why were only covered for 12hours out of 24 so it knocked my sleeping pattern to pot for a while I'd sleep through the day "incase anything happened", and whilst my daughter was at school so she didn't have to find me if I died throughout the day and took my riveroxaban on a night thinking I'd be covered. This is an anxiety disorder
(I have to state I'd had PE's whilst on Warfrin and heparin too not just without this medications.)
I used to also get panic attacks really bad, I'd get a pain in my chest and automatically think not again but it was panic attacks and not PE's. The amount of bras I lost through those things.
I'd advise speaking to somebody about your experiences just talking to somebody can lift a weight of your self,
I'm lucky I had understanding friends and family, I'd teach them the signs of PE's for me also the stroke system they knew what to do even my 6yr old daughter at the time knew what to watch out for.
