Hang in there, it will improve. I felt like that after my PE. Still alive though!
Hi there. I have recently been fortunate to have been referred to a Respiratory Physiotherapist and the advice they gave me (I was anxious and breathless) might help you, too. Apparently, when someone has a clot in the lungs, they often change the way they breathe in order to manage the symptoms of this. The brain learns this new pattern of breathing and then, after the clot dissolves, it doesn’t return to a normal pattern of breathing. The important things to do to help are 1) do not breathe through your mouth as this changes the chemistry of the blood and causes ‘Fight or flight’, panic or anxiety. Always breathe in and out of your nose, slowly counting ‘one and two and’ on the in breathe and the same on the out breath. 2). Make sure you are doing deep breaths from your diaphragm - your belly should rise up and down. 3) Before any exertion, breath in and then breathe out as you exert yourself. 4). Take time to check and practice your breathing throughout the day until this pattern becomes established. It is really good to have something to do to take control of this pesky condition and I hope you feel much better soon.
Hi l had a PE in my right lung 3 years ago and l do know how you must be feeling. It will take time for you to feel better, but you will. Hang on in there.
Hang in there, you can get better!! I'm in my 30's to, and while its a shock, you can fight back
That's right. You can't change what's happened but what you can do is look at ways you can help yourself like starting exercise as soon as you can, just doing 10 minutes walking at first and stop when tired and go from there and see about looking at the psychological things and take steps to help yourself with things you can do something about and learn to accept things that are beyond your control.
Thanks
For the first time 9 months ago I had pulmonary embolisms in both lungs and they informed me some of my lung tissue had died too. It was a scary time and like you didn't know which way to turn. However after 6 months I came off all blood thinners and only take daily aspirin. I now feel back to normal and don't get out of breath etc. So it will get better, it's just early days for you. X
