Have I got cancer.

Hi I'm new .

4weeks ago I was rushed into hospital with acute breathing difficulty.

After a ct scan it was found that I had numerous clots on my lungs. I was discharged and put on rivaroxaban 30mg per day. Reduced to 20mg as of now.

Today 09/11/2016. I went for a ct scan and when I questioned as to what was the purpose of this the radiologist replied that the clots on my lung where caused by a malignant episode somewhere in my body. I am now living in fear of the big C and await my results. Surely if I have cancer this could have done more sympathetically

Sorry but I'm crapping myself and awaiting results.

Hello

I completely get how you feel I'm having to go for a mammogram tomorrow & im awaiting ct scans & blood tests the same as you , I had a pe 9 weeks ago, I think they have to try & rule everything out as to why you have the clots,

Please try not to worry to much , I know it's easier said than done,

Good luck

Hello Stuart.

This my experience, I had a UNPROVOKED blood clot (PE) on my lungs and underwent lots of tests to find out the reason why, including a full abdomen CT scan. I was told that one of the POSSIBLE causes of a PE can be cancer. The CT scan you had was to rule this out. There are other causes for a PE like , Dehydration, DVT’s, Pneumonia ( that’s what they put my down to) ETC. I am not a medical person only somebody who has experienced the same. You will have to wait and see the Doctor who care's for you to find out the results of the CT scan which might prove all OK. I think the person in the CT room didn’t explain things very well.

I hope this helps.

Richard

Hi Stuart, I know how you and your wife must be feeling and it’s a pleasure to be here in your time of need, as we have all been there. The advice of my Doctor was to talk and share your fears which this site gives the opportunity too. I had my PE last year at 58, it was a life shattering blow and has changed my outlook forever. Take care and be strong. Richard

Hi, I had the same thing, getting rushed into hospital with blood clots on my lungs but as it turned out I had Antiphospholipid syndrome....a type of blood thickening disease so I wouldn't worry yourself to much probably something that can be treated with a pill or two?....Good luck any how.

If you have APS the clots were more than likley cause by your clot loving blood. The Radiologist may not understand APS, as many have no clue. I usually have to educate people in the medical feild about it. You can tell if they are clueless buy telling them you jave APS when I say that and see the expression on their face I can tell weather they have a clue or not. If not I tell them what it is. Try not to worry, as I said the radiologist probably just does not understand APS so he is looking for a reason for you to have clotted. Do the tests because, u never know but try not to worry about anything until it has been seen and diagnosed. Then you can worry. What to do while waiting? Assume it to be the most likley cause, your APS, until someone diagnoses something else.

Nice one Im so glad I found you lot you've certainly eased my mind.

Well I hope you are feeling a little better now and not worrying too much it's very scary when they say things and remember he was not a doctor and would not be able to say for sure what started your clots the real Doctor will be able to tell what is what or at least be able to do something for you so please don't worry to much I just hope your news is good take care
