I am sure that there are plenty of Warfarin patients who also from time to time suffer headaches. That does not mean that the two are connected. After 17 years on Warfarin I have never come across a patient who suffered headaches which were believed to be caused by the Warfarin. The problem is of course that many pain relief medications are not a good idea when on Warfarin as they affect one's INR. I have usually found that only Paracetamol in limited doses relieves moderate pain without affecting my INR.
I've been on Warfarin for six years and never had problems with headaches...until this year! Now I have periodic banging headaches which can last for up to a week. I've been told that this is a rare side effect of Warfarin that only 10% of patients experience. The headaches are not pleasant but now that I know what is causing them and that they will eventually go away, I can cope with them.
Thank you I do hope your headache does to away I am finding mine make very tired and only a strong pain tablet helps which. I can't take during the day only at night
Hi Applewood ….. Headaches are not amongst the symptoms normally associated with Warfarin as far as I know and I have been on Warfarin since 1998. Muggy head if my INR is too low but that's about it. Hope you find out what's causing them.
