Reefer Madness!!!

I'll say right from the start that I don't smoke dope (anymore). I tried it after a decade+ break when I was briefly back in the UK a year or so back and it near completely sorted out the neuropathy in my legs.

I cut my Gabapentin use by 80-90% as well. My legs felt fantastic. No more tingly, achey, heavy legs. Did nothing special for my spasticity, though I watched two seasons of The Crown in two days. Watched a good chunk of The Walking Dead as well.

Felt good, very good. Nice to take a medicine with good side-effects for a change. I don't like smoking though. I am currently out of the UK and if I was caught with dope here, they'd throw away the key. Back to Gabapentin for me.

Anyway, I read this article in The Guardian yesterday.

theguardian.com/commentisfr...

50 years of the (ongoing) British failure of the war on drugs. Nothing new there. But I was drawn to this part:

"In Britain, the Home Office was implacable until a media campaign in 2018 for two epileptic children forced it to license the drug for serious pain relief. Figures last month revealed that not a single NHS prescription for cannabis has yet been allowed. British sufferers must still seek relief abroad. The health ministry says fatuously that it wants more research."

I have posted about this before. In 2018, Britain legalised medical cannabis, but you'll never get a prescription from your GP.

But, I didn't know that there are private cannabis clinics all over the UK now. No one told me.

Here is one:

sapphireclinics.com

Here is another quote:

"An article about The Medical Cannabis Clinics published in the Evening Standard on 18th June 2019 is a little more direct about the cost, stating “prescriptions will cost £600 to £700 a month.”"

That's on top of the regular "consultation fees"

“A consultation with one of our specialists will cost £250. If you are self-referred and therefore require an additional appointment with our GP, this will cost an additional £100. Any follow up appointments with our specialists will cost £150.”

I'll put that into perspective. An ounce of weed will cost £80-130 for basic stuff, going up to £300 for an ounce of top of the line hydroponic gear. Isn't the black market supposed to be more expensive? Doesn't the illegality drive up the price?

I am planning to pop back to the UK as soon as this Covid thing calms down (who knows when). For the record, I'll buy some more weed, so impressed was I last time round. As far as the illegality aspect. I have more chances of being abducted by aliens than of being arrested for weed in London. This is either good news, or a sad comment on the current state of society. You be the judge.

None of the above constitutes medical advice.

Medical and recreational marijuana has become legal in several states in the US except Texas - where I live. I don’t like smoking so I tried a edible gummy once and it made my neuropathy pain nonexistent. I was able to stand up for hours. Can’t wait for it to become legal in Texas hopefully soon. The benefits for chronic pain are definitely there. I always say I can live with all the other “conditions” of AMN if I could just get rid of the pain.

Pain is the worst part for me too

I have purchased 10 m.g. per piece of THC indica strain infused in a gummy when my feet nerve pain is so intense I want to dismember them. It takes 2-3 hours for effect. But as a former smoker long ago, I will never inhale. Tinctures might be a good method. It works! My former neuro had approved its use and wrote a medical letter supporting need that releases him of promoting a federal banned substance. I never used it (cannabis card) and got my first gummies after I was diagnosed with ACALD and use it occasionally for nerve pain. I still have 15/30 since September so I am not a regular user. (It cost about $50 for 30 and delivery is awesome!) Love California! Oh, a medical card will help lower expense here since there are no taxes on medical cannabis in some areas.

I'm glad to hear that this does something for you. I too tried THC edibles for pain at the recommendation of three of my doctors, as it is legal in my state. Unfortunately, it just made me extremely paranoid, and even in that state, it did nothing noticeable for my pain. Not a realistic solution for me.

Look in to “18-1” in a vape or pill. Never noticed anything real with the pill. The vape however clears the mind for work and allows me to concentrate on my movements. Very little THC (1) vs CBD(18).

I use the Vape at night to relax my legs and help me be able to sleep and it does wonders. Tried to not use it last night to see if maybe it was just in my head and sure enough the pain was back with a vengeance. I agree with Coslet. The 18:1 is good for daytime function.

Thank you for the update. My mum - in Italy - was getting prescription CBD+THC oil on the 🇮🇹NHS. I’m in the UK and seriously hoping this delay isn’t down to - the usual! - govt dirty fingers (private clinics?) everywhere 😠
