Hot Tubs and AMN

Does anyone have any experience with hot tubs and AMN? I was recently on vacation and came down with food poisoning and was in my room recovering for a full day. My friends mentioned they were going to use the hot tub. My main thought was maybe it would help burn off my fever I came down with. I probably soaked in it for a good 45 minutes with a 15 minute break in between. It left my legs almost so relaxed I had trouble walking back to my room. As I was sick I don't know exactly if it left me with any benefits, but I wondered if anyone had any experience? Good or bad to treat the neuropathy symptoms. I do have a foot spa with heat and it does provide some relief in my feet. Thanks!

The only experience that I can share is the last time when I went to get into a hot tub the feeling I got from my foot made me think the heat had quit working because it felt cold to me. The neuropathy was that bad that I couldn't tell that the water was hot. I had been sick for a few days previous and in the hospital because of an adrenal crisis so that may have had something to do with it, but I didn't stay in very long and can't say that I enjoyed it. I haven't had an opportunity again and that was a year and a half ago now.

Hello! We ended up selling our hot tub because I wasn’t able to walk after I got out of it. My legs would be too relaxed. I didn’t have far to walk, but I was SO relaxed that I’d have to try exercises to get control back before walking. Not a good feeling! I did feel the heat, had no trouble with cold feet.

That is exactly how I felt, almost like jello! I think I enjoyed it and it helped, but the after effect made me think otherwise. I probably looked like an old man back to my room, but I did make it..haha

I limit any hot tubs to maybe 10-15 minutes because I get weak and pass out (low blood pressure) if I stay in much longer. I sit with a cold glass of water for a few minutes after I get out before walking anywhere. I do love how the hot jets feel on my back!

Hot tub for me relieved all the spasticity which is great until you try and get out with useless legs.

I love a long, hot bath. Or indeed a sauna, if I can find one.

All those knotted up, spastic muscles relaxed. Good job I have rails fitted to the sides of my bath.

Anyway, was just today I heard about Heat Shock Proteins.

scientificamerican.com/arti...

They have all kinds of (scientifically proven) benefits for the immune system, anti cancer too.

If you accept the inflammation causing aspect of VLCFA's (maybe I do), then Heat Shock Proteins may be of help to us, maybe.

If any of you have ever been to Japan and visited the hot springs, them baths is hot. Roastingly so. Extremely healthy people, the Japanese, then again they eat a lot of vegetables and fish. They drink a lot of booze as well.

Still, that's my contribution.

Not what you're looking for?
