I am Sigmund. I need help/advice: my wife has been diagnosed with MCI (mild cognitive impairment )she was prescribed Donepezil. I am having a helluva time getting her to take it.She says it makes her sick/feel bad. Has anyone here taken this medication and had similar feelings? If so did it get better after a while ? Did you see a little improvement after taking medicine for a while? Any feed back you all can give me will be very much appreciated.

Hi Sigmund. I've just been through this with my husband. He was diagnosed with MCI at first as well but the neurologist said that he was going to treat him as if he had Alzheimer's. He said that he might progress to that or he might not. I was pretty sure that he would because both his mother and father both had it. My husband has been gone now 1 1/2 years but I don't recall him having any problems with his stomach while taking it. However my son's wife's mother has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and was prescribed donepezil and it upset her stomach and her doctor took her off of it for while. But it helped my husband tremendously for a little over 2 years. After that it stopped working and when it stopped, it stopped. Our doctor prescribed another medication but told us that it really only worked on about 30% of patients and just had to hope that he was one of them. Unfortunately he wasn't. My suggestion would be to talk to her prescribing doctor and let them know about her stomach issues and let him make a determination. My prayers are with you both.
