NHS Prescription (Scotland)

I have been offered a wig prescription for the first time following a recent phone consultation with a Dermatologist after a scalp biopsy in feb.

I’m thinking about when the wig shops reopen, what brands of wigs do they offer on prescription? Is it all of them? How do prescriptions work exactly? Thanks 😊

Here in Highland it is four wigs a year. My daughter gets them. Yiu get issued a prescription to take to a shop that offers the service. It's like chosen clothes. They will suggest styles and colours and you try them on and decide which ones to have. She has two sensible work ones, a mid length going out one and a quite frivolous long curly one.

Hi, I get 4 a year, 2 every 6 months. The hospital gave me a list of all the shops I could go to try wigs. You can go to as many shops as you want to try them on. When you have decided what shop you phone hospital to tell them where to send your prescription to. Mine have all been Ellen Wille or Gisela Mayor. I usually look up where I go for mine & pick a few styles before I go to try them on. If you need to know anything else just ask.
