Allergic to Glycols

Received response from FDA

I got a letter back from the FDA regarding the letter I sent them about glycol allergies and the references I provided.

They encourage us to report our adverse events when we are exposed to glycols on the MedWatch page: fda.gov/safety/medwatch-fda... Click on the red "report a problem" tab and then click on the "consumer/patient" tab and fill out what happened. Or you can click on the "Form FDA 3500B-Voluntary Reporting for Consumers," fill it out and mail it in or fax it to 1-800-332-0178.

It doesn't look like the kind of form letter they'd use to get rid of people. I think this is regarded seriously if enough people report these things. They use the number of people reporting problems with a substance to gauge what they should do about it.

Let's blast them with reports about the things that have happened to us. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Following anaphylactic reaction to my first dose of covid vaccine, my physician encouraged me to complete the adverse event form through VERS. Would you recommend this one from FDA as well? It looks like it pertains more to food and drugs rather than vaccines.

A vaccine could be considered a medication. Why not try it.

Do you know if it is PEG you are allergic to? There is a chance you reacted to something else in the vaccine, like the lipid nanoparticle itself. It is really important for you to identify what you reacted to. The PEG is the most likely culprit; however, you should get skin testing to verify that. The reason it is so important to identify is to enable avoidance. Additionally, it is a verification data point that PEG in the vaccines is causing anaphylactic reactions. The regulatory community is hesitant to admit this, as proof of PEG as the culprit, since anti PEG antibodies are so prevalent in the population, would cost pharma billions in reformulating both existing and pipeline drugs. It would also show a reaction to a vaccines specifically tailored methoxy PEG 2000 DMG, a formulation thought to reduce the chance of vaccine immunogenicity due to its PEG content.

Likely the polysorbate which is a chemical cousin to PEG. If allergic to one, likely allergic to the other. He did express some thought as to whether it could be the nanopoarticle. I have an immune deficiency and 2 years ago I tried gammaglobulin infusions. Four out of four times I had the same type of allergic reaction which started with congestion and larynx swelling. After the vaccine, and the suspiciously similar reaction, I checked the package insert to product I used for infusion. Sure enough - polysorbate.

Hi, I also had a reaction to my first dose of pfizer. I had it March 30 and is suffering from no sleep and afraid to eat anything.. how are you coping? I don’t know anyone in my situation so I joined this community to talk to people who experienced the same thing. And did u find out what you’re allergic to? I suspect mine is also PEG. But my allergist is sadly only testing me for foods and I don’t know why
