Alternative to Sodas, need beverage ideas!

I'm looking for alternative beverages for my son to drink, especially when we're eating out, on a road trip, etc. I know all sodas contain PG (correct?). Most anything with artificial flavors has PG. Is there anything out there other than plain water?! (Exposure to PG causes his face to become red, dry, streaky, blotchy, and flaky. Really awful looking and painful). Thanks!

Yes, nearly all carbonated beverages contain PG which inhibits bacteria growth and evenly distributes fatty acids for flavor consistency. Hopefully your son will soon get over his cravings for sugar sweetened beverages. Maybe he can begin to acquire a taste for herbal teas, like elderberry, which can be iced. Some ORGANIC drinks like Santa Cruz lemonade may be okay and, of course, organic 100% juices (like apple). In addition, there are some organic carbonated ciders that might be okay.

I was thinking about learning how to make tasty iced tea with fruit flavor added- just trying to find fruit flavors with no PG! Thanks for tip on Santa Cruz

For myself I DIY lemonade. If you have bottled water and one of those little squirt bottles of ReaLemon lemon or lime juice from the produce section (double check that it is ONLY juice in there) and a squirt bottle of liquid Splenda or packets of it, you can dump out an oz or 2 of water, add about a Tbsp of lemon or lime juice and the sweetener, shake it up and have lemonade or limeade. Brand name Splenda thus far does not have any kind of glycol in it. (always check for changes.) Some people choose Stevia, but to me it tastes very bitter. Depends on your son's taste buds if he picks up on that.

Thanks for idea. I know the “Real Lemon” product you’re taking about. Have always been worried it might not actually be real!

Of course always check because things can change. Thus far it appears to just be concentrate that's rehydrated with water.
