Enjoy Life brand chocolate morsels

Trying to find a "sweet treat" for my son who is allergic to PG. I made chocolate dipped frozen bananas using Enjoy Life brand dark chocolate morsels. Only ingredients listed are: unsweetened chocolate, cane sugar, cocoa butter. Thought it should be safe. He has eaten multiple bananas over last few days and how has "PG face" - terribly red, botchy, streaky. I don't KNOW that it's from chocolate, but just going through my list of "what's different??" to try to figure out root cause. Wondering if anyone else uses this brand and what their experience is. Thanks.

From my personal experience, the processing of cocoa is my issue with most candies/chocolate covered treats (even some organic). Chocolate that is processed with alkaline is always an issue for me. Not all manufacturers, however, list how their cocoa is processed.

Perhaps it's not the alkaline exactly (since in this link alkaline seems to be part of the cocoa process)u.osu.edu/commoditychainofc... But, the cocoa liquor, which is also part of cocoa making, leaves an opportunity to add other emulsifying agents to the mix. Cheap cocoa could potentially add chemicals as emulsifiers.

I've never seen this brand in my location. I have gotten bittersweet chocolate by Ghirardelli and by various organic brands and not reacted to it. It might pay to contact the companies who make the chocolate you intend to buy before you use it and see if you can get more detailed information.
