Hello Domrep,

That sounds like a start to me and he/she obviously wants to see you in 3 weeks to find out if it has helped over that time.

Fluoxetine is a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) which basically means it helps with your serotonin levels which have been reported by many specialists in Fibromyalgia to be low.

Here is some information on Fluoxetine

nhs.uk/medicine-guides/page...

Here is some information on medications used in the treatment of Fibromyalgia

Within this it mentions Fluoxetine and that it is used less often for Fibromyalgia but is tolerated well by some people. Everyone responds to medication differently , so what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another.

I would consider keeping a diary of your symptoms to see if the Fluoxetine has made any improvement. If like me you are not a diary person, some people find completing the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ) form daily is more helpful. Here's the link to it on our Facebook group page,

Please let us know how you are getting on and I hope the new medication will help

I look forward to hearing from you
