Hi i have been in nsr since early Dec..I have been having chest pain and extreme weakness..to the point I feel I'm actually slipping away and can't speak I've been admitted to hospital since Saturday because of symptoms and have had a ct scan this morning which is normal..I'm waiting on results of echo.
Anyone got any idea what my problem is as doctors think if my echo normal then it can be neurological
I have a 21 year old disabled son ...and need to have energy to cook food etc for him ..the simplest thing can just drain me completely that I can't get up stairs..also have days that I have good energy and can deal with everything.
So frustrating I was actually hoping the scan would show a blockage so I could have it treated and regain some energy
Sorry about the long post

Sorry to hear you are going through this. Do you think it could be anxiety related? I should know as I have had my self dead & buried many times, medics have told me numerous times that my symptoms are due to anxiety. . Your brain can do such weird things to your body. I can understand how anxious & stressed you must be feeling, obviously worrying about your son too.
Fingers crossed 🤞 that this is what it is & you can access the appropriate help with this.
Sorry to hear what you are going through and you need never apologise about how much you write here, as the more we know the more we may be able to help.
I was once taken to hospital with a high heart rate and was immediately put on a magnesium drip. On that I felt as though I was drifting away, unable to speak and just about paralysed. I can't remember now how I managed to get the consultant's attention, as he stood by the side of my bed, but he could see my distress and immediately took off the drip. Back I came, so I really feel for you if you are having the same thing just caused by your heart rate.
Well it's plain to me that your heart is either going too slow, too fast or beating completely out of rhythm, or all of those things at once, and I'm not medically trained! Are you connected to a heart monitor?
Re the days you get when you're lacking energy and others where you feel fine. Well, most of we people with AF get the same high and low energy days. It's a real pain as we can never make firm plans on what we can and can't do from one day to the next.
Please let us know how you progress in hospital.
You will get through this period of uncertainty and we're all here for you.
Yes, your heart rhythm might be normal now but do you know what it was doing when you went into hospital? Did you know that how you were feeling was being caused by your heart rate? I guess they will send you home and you will have to hope that they catch what's happening 'next time'.
Just a thought have you heard of a condition called mast cell activation syndrome… I have it snd symptoms csn wax and wane affecting different parts of the body. All tests usually come back normal worth looking into. x
I understand what you're saying but trust me just be happy you don't have any blockages! Have they done a G.I. work up? Chest pains from Gerd or esophagus spasms can often mimic cardiac pain and vice versa. And lastly, there is microvascular disease that might not show up on a CT angiogram which I assume is what you got, but if not, I would ask for one rather than a simple chest CT scan.
As to being tired, it certainly could be related to the chest pain or it could be independent and possibly related to your medications. Afib meds, especially beta blockers, can leave many people very washed out.
Hopefully they will find a cause, but if not, keep pushing the doctors to keep looking.
Thank you jim ..a previous cardiologist said it was microvascular..but I'd completely forgotten...will raise that with them..as he wanted me to do a stress mri
I have angina caused by coronary artery spasm and I have similar symptoms. My friend has the same but her symptoms came on after Covid. We were both complaining too each other that some mornings we just don’t feel any good for anything and can only wait until it passes. But we are 80 and 90 so are entitled to ‘off’ days and at your age you definitely want an answer. May I suggest you go to the BHF site and look up ‘microvascular angina’ and ‘cardiac syndrome X’ - from that you could see if your symptoms seem to fit. I had a ‘heart attack’ due to CAS though my arteries were clear on an angiogram.
Unfortunately your symptoms could indicate so many conditions that only tests may reveal and often that may take a long time as it may be a matter of elimination.
I think that Buff’s ideas of ‘microvascular angina’ maybe worth looking up on the BHF site asking your cardiologist about.
Anxiety does not cause the sorts of symptoms to the extent you are experiencing but I think it is natural to be anxious in your circumstances because you have so many unknowns and a lot of uncertainty just now. I know you want to get well again fast for your son but patience and persistence is what is required now, push for tests and push for help and support. I am a carer (recent) for my husband and I am encouraged by the amount of support from social services, GP surgery and local charities is available, in fact I’ve been somewhat overwhelmed by it!
I know what you talking about. In November, I came down with some type of a bug. I have not felt the same sense up until then I felt so normal and wonderful. Yes I understand you feel like you’re slipping away because there’s nothing major jumping explaining how you can feel so awful. there are more things than the. My EP taught me that. A couple of weeks ago I was tested for thyroid. I had no idea all the awful things. Thyroid problems can cause in the body. I had full panel of regular blood work and it was great. The only reason thyroid came up is because suddenly I have lost about half my hair. When I brush my hair, it looks like a small animal on my brush. It also mats for no reason. If you had seen my hair a few months ago, you would be shocked at what I have now. I will be making a hair stylist appointment. I have had long hair most of my life kept it healthy. It always made me feel good right now. I feel miserable and I look as though I have been getting treatments for something. I do not have bald spots, but each time I run the brush through my hair there is a giant clump of hair. I am heartsick. I was shocked that I pretty much checked off everything on the list for thyroid even things like loss of appetite although I haven’t lost a pound, which doesn’t make sense. Trouble walking pain throughout my body so many reasons to have what I have going on and yet it looks like it’s just that little piece in your body called thyroid they say it’s butterfly shaped
I am meeting with my new PE tomorrow. Finally my other one moved away. I am going to meet with him before I go back to my other doctor test results so they can all be on the same page. Unfortunately, the they use are going to be a problem for me. is which many people here are familiar with. I am highly allergic. I to iodine pretty much any form. hospital had put me on a large bag of it following my first ablation. I was covered from head to toe with a rash and more before I went home. They actually to continue taking it. I tried so hard for four months evidently did. Tell my doctor strongly enough how bad it was. When he saw me at my follow up, he took me off immediately. some other one that they use levothyroxine I think it to speed up your heart. Not something I need one of the reasons I have a pacemaker was because I had severe tachycardia among other things with my ventricles involved all four chambers were involved in my arrhythmia
they do a monthly remote check besides 24 seven. I just got my usual message from them that my transmission was fine and all went well. I’m glad they think so because I feel horrible short of breath and chest pressure like before I had my pacemaker. Again, I’m hoping it all comes down to the thyroid.
if you haven’t had things like that checked and you have any other odd things happening talk to your doctor and push to get answers. Unfortunately, I didn’t have to push. I had taken a picture of the hair that had come out on my brush just before I left the house doctor appointment and that was enough for him.
best of luck it’s really horrible when you can’t explain and no one can explain why you feel like you do for two years. I have had amazing quality of life and been happy until this.
besides the bug I had trauma hit me during that same week when I had five friends within 12 hours, including a friend and her needless to say I’m sure none of that helped my body with all the upset. Even as I write this, I am choking up. I have PTSD, anxiety and depression. Anyway.
