Laughter

Has anyone's Afib ever been triggered by laughing too much? I've started watching reruns of "Would I Lie to you" each evening and laugh hysterically at times, well most of the time. I know laughter is the best medicine but just wondered if it had kicked off anyone's Afib.

I imagine that trying NOT to laugh would be far more likely to trigger AF!

Don’t know the answer to that, but l tell you one thing, AF has done many things to me, but to stop me laughing? NEVER. Live, laugh and love. ❤️

One positive from AF. Years ago I was burgled. Came home from work to find two men in the house in the process of carrying things out. For years after I went to sleep thinking please don't let me burgled again. When I started with AF I forgot all about the burglars and went to sleep thinking please don't let AF kick off.

Yes 😂😂😂. This AF has a habit of trying to take over, but this is the first time l have heard of it being an advantage. Well l never!

I had a break in too, My daughter was staying and she got up in the night and disturbed the burglar. so he went off empty handed. It does make you up the security. I installed cameras and updated my locks. I also have a small dog who is very alert and has the bark of an rotweiller. I haven’t been bothered since.

Wishing you well. Carry on with your laughter. Life is miserable enough at times.

Yes I had alarm put in and security light outside. While it was happening I was angry and brave, chased them up the street much to the amusement of friends I told afterwards who asked when I'd last had unarmed combat with two 17 year olds. A nervous wreck afterwards though.

It hasn't kicked off any of my episodes, but it stopped two of them!

That's good to know. I'll try that if/when it starts again..

Have you tried watching Micheal MacIntyre? I think there’s no risk there..,

I don’t know about laughter but singing loudly will stop my A fib.

I might try that if/when there's a next time - if there's no one around.

i remember having an episode occasionally which seemed to brought on by eating, ie physically swallowing food, not what I was eating. So if laughing shakes your chest about violently I could see that being a trigger too.

That was my fear. Laughing constantly for 30 minutes I thought was like 30 minutes exercise - far more than I can do now. I'll be positive and think it's doing me good.
