Recent 2nd ablation

HiCan anyone advise me about being prescribed lansopralol following recent ablation last week please?

I wasn't informed by cardiology about taking it at the time. It was suddenly at the chemist obviously from cardiology.

I'm continuing heart meds until 3month blanking period is up.

I didn't take lansopralol first ablation. Has anyone else been prescribed it following ablation. Would appreciate advice.

Do you mean Lansoprazole - a PPI to reduce stomach acid?

It is often, too often in my opinion, prescribed as a prophylactic as after ablation many people suffer acid reflux because the ablation procedure may result in inflammation around the oesophagus.

Thanks thought I'd spelt it correctly! I haven't suffered any acid reflux. So am wondering to take it or not. Taking enough medication already.Will obviously if I get symptoms but it's 2 weeks now since ablation.

I had my repeat ablation on Tuesday, and have been sent home with a month’s worth of Omeprazole to take, which I believe is a similar drug to Lansoprazole (PPIs). I believe this is routinely prescribed after ablation in case there was any irritation to the oesophagus during the procedure. In my discharge notes it says ‘for oesophageal prophylaxis’.
