I was diagnosed in 2018 , I had mild asthma . They told me at that time to use my Flovent if needed but only if I could not breathe was I to use the Solbuteral . When I had knee replacements they took it into Or , I never used it . Before Christmas I developed a wicked cough and congested chest the I was congested deep down and had breathing issues . The added the solbuteral back on 1 puff 4 times a day . I Am back to normal
And the said to quit it when I was better and just keep using Flovent once a day . I am getting conflicting info ,Can I just quit it cold Turkey . The solbuteral raises my heart rate and I don’t like the feeling . The pharmacy said just quit it but ever where I read it says taper off . So I have been on it since Jan 2 1 puff 4 times a day . I do not want to increase the tachycardia . So do I quit cold turkey or taper . Thanks to anyone that has been down this route . I hope none of you catch that respitory virus / infection . It was terrible never felt even with mild asthma I could not breathe and whistled and wheezed for 3 weeks and mostly no other symptoms . Stay Safe
Thank you

Talking about respiratory problems, my last hospital stay was for a month because of a respiratory problem and chest infection. It's not a nice feeling when you can't breathe.
Now to answer your question - I know what I would do. However, I can't go against your doctor's or pharmacist's advice. Did you speak to the actual pharmacist or was it someone who worked there? As for going cold turkey - I am also using an inhaler every day on the doctor's advice. It's a waste of time now IMO as my breathing is back to normal and I could stop without any problems at all. I might do so, although if it was still helping I would taper it off over a few weeks. It's not ideal if it raises your HR.
Sorry, but I can't help any further and give you my personal opinion - I'm not medically qualified. I guess you can read between the lines about what I would do. However, my suggestion is to follow your medic's advice and do as they instruct.
The minute I was diagnosed with AF, the Cardiologist took me off of all inhalers except Symbicoed(t) with a 't' in some countries- it is budesonide/formoterol, so I certainly abrubtly stopped salbuterol with no problems.
