I have paroxysmal AF and sinus bradycardia. I had both before starting Flecainide (150mg BD, total 300mg daily) and Metoprolol with no significant side effects.... but we're all different.I'm reasonably fit and active and consider my AF to be low burden.

My bradycardia appears to be combination of genetics and fitness. One of my daughters has it too but doesn't have AF

I've been on Flecainide for years and had no problem. I only have paroxysmal AF though.

I have been successfully on Flecainide for 11 yrs. A relative tried and tested heart drug for AF but seems more suited to over 60, active people, with lowish HR and no comorbidities.

I was on Flecainide for paroxysmal AF for 10 years without side effects. At the time of diagnosis in 2005 I was having around a three hour incident every four days or some. The Flecainide stopped this completely. However in 2015 the AF returned - 24 hour incidents every two weeks. I had an ablation at Papworth in 2026 and have had no AF since.

I took Flecainide off and on at various doses over a period of 8 years. 50 mg twice a day to 150 twice a day until I had my 3rd ablation. It was a great drug that for me improved my quality of life for some time, then it started to create some rhythm problems a couple of hours after I took it, so dosages got switched around. The Dr. said my heart was remodeling and that was why? But, all in all I got good results for a period of time, did not make me feel bad…. HAPPY to get results controlling horrible high heart rate afib. We each are different, but it was great for me.

I have been on Flecainide for over 30 years. As I age, my resting heart rate has risen from about 40 to 50 bpm. I take 100 mg TID. No AF. My max heart rate during intense exercise has also dropped. Overall ok with the Flecainide.

I had rapid weight gain on it… talking 20 plus lbs in a month had to stop… it never really helped my afib anyway
