Bisoprolol and vivid dreams

I have taken bisoprolol for about 5 years now. But have recently made the connection that if I take them after teatime, then I'm having the most horrible vivid dreams including very loading shouting iny sleep, which always wakes me at the time. I have read they can cause vivid dreams. Just wondered if anyone else has this.

There are many pills that can cause vivid dreaming but I've not heard of Bisoprolol being one. Do you take any other medication?

Yes. But it's definitely the bisoprolol. I have low blood pressure until about lunchtime, so I have to hold off the bisoprolol until then. But I know that if I take any later I'm going to have a vivid dreams.

Yes, I believe Bisoprolol does this to me too. Not always nightmares, but very vivid and often disturbing dreams. I really don’t like it. I swapped to take them in the morning rather than evening, and it did improve, though the dreams haven’t gone away entirely. Of course I do take other meds and I did wonder if Ramipril could also be a culprit, but there was def an increase in vivid dreams when I started Bisoprolol.

Sounds like if you take yours earlier in the day you’re ok? That’s good to hear!

Yes, it can do this and give you hallucinations. I think it states that on the list of sife effects. Horrible drug for some of us, unfortunately. If it interferes with your quality of life ask to change. Lots have changed to Nebivolol.

I had the same problem, even woke the cat up. Doctor confirmed it’s a very common side effect.

I now take carvedilol which is not so intense but still have problems

Hiya,

No not me, not ever .... with either Bisoprolol, Nebivolol or Sotalol. BUT A BIG YES when my GP moved me to Edoxaban .... the most vivid, vile and horrendous nightmares ever ............ so changed back to Warfarin. No problems ever since.

Yes, me too. Real nightmares at times, the ones you have to force yourself to wake up from. Not every night, but often enough. After years I decided to take the Biso in the morning instead of the evening, and it's been a good decision. Now I only have a nightmare once every few weeks, and the timing change has made no difference.
