Tuesday evening started to feel poorly so Wednesday I didn't go to the dyno so Paul had to go on his own . Last evening we were supposed to go to see Billy Billingham (SAS) at our local theatre but Sam stuffed a covid test kit up my nose and Yes I have it. Bad enough missing Billy but 13th I am supposed to have my CT angiogram. Only been waiting nearly a year. Also family arrriving for long weekend 14th.
Now "sleeping" in the spare room.

if you feel well enough to go perhaps you still can as you still have 7 days to go.
I have chest infection, bronchitis and pneumonia. I phoned the doctor to ask for a face to face appointment, but told her I tried to use a covid test kit which hadn’t expired as I felt so ill, but all the liquid in the little sachets had disappeared.
She said not to worry snd not even to wear a mask!!!! If I felt like it keep in for 5 days but not to worry about the test. I couldn’t find a local chemist that were selling it anyway
I do hope you feel better soon and you are able to keep your appointment.
Maybe the GP's come from South Africa.😀 Here the government have just about given up, the uptake of the vaccine was so low initially and mask wearing even less so, All the places that were giving the vaccinations have closed for that purpose. No SMs's to get a booster comes, no mention of it in the media. My last one was my 3rd ,3years ago, as was everyone I know, I don't know anyone who has had Covid (or at least diagnosed with it) for at least two years ! My doctor took down the perspex screen on her desk ages ago !
Sorry you have the lurgy. Fingers crossed you may test negative in a couple of days and can still keep the ct scan. You know the drill Bob, stay warm and well hydrated and rest, rest, rest…….or we’ll snitch on you to Sam!
Sorry. At least you got your booster recently which should help, something still on my list !
Paxlovid got me through my last episode a lot faster and easier than when I didn't use it previously. Must be taken within five days of when you first noticed the symptoms.
If you go this route, carefully check your medication's as it could be contraindicated or adjustments might be needed.
For example, it reacts with a number of heart meds like anticoagulants. So at least here in the United States, we are often temporarily put on a half dose. Not sure how that would work in your case with Warafin.
Jim, Paxlovid whilst technically available here in UK is only available on precription to those at very high risk which I am not. I doubt many here would qualify. A couple of days feeling crappy small price to pay .
Wishing you speedy recovery. Sometimes life seems to have a bad timing and causes chaos, but hope it sorts out and you get for your CT angiogram at least. Paracetamol, mask and your stick should prop you up for the exciting occasion. Keep smiling - could be worse! 😀
All I can tell you is that when I had covid for the second time earlier this year I only felt poorly for 5 days and tested negative on the 6th day. Have you had it before? If so you may get off lighter this time.
Lets hope it goes as quickly as my last covid did and you're soon feeling better. I remember that feeling dreadfully cold and I don't think it lasted more than about 12hrs. Get well soon.
Sorry to hear you have covid, hopefully ir will clear up in time for the angiogram on 13th. You have quite a lot of time still so fingers crossed its gone. All the best
Apparently there is according to the chaps who write the ‘Trust the Evidence’ Substack (Drs Carl Heneghan & Tom Jefferson). It seems that if you get your respiratory virus over & done with in the colder months you’re far less likely to get an often far nastier Spring/Summer infection. The former is prof of Evidence-based Medicine at Oxford Uni & the latter headed up the Cochrane reviews on all things respiratory for years so I’m trusting they know their onions!
Seems to be a milder strain. Hubby and I felt roughish for 3 days, and really only like a bad cold. The bad news is it took me 11 days to test negative and hubby 3 weeks!!! I think if you feel ok go to your scan - which you probably will if it's a week away - you could let them know you'd like to go wearing a mask. They might well agree. Everyone seems more relaxed this time around. Like in our GP surgery for example. They say come in masked even if you have Covid. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Bob that’s bad luck but the positive is you may have had it a few days already. From a postive test to a negative test was a total of 5 days for me back in April this year. Let’s hope your the same and you can still do the test on the 13th!
Sorry to hear you’re poorly Bob. Hope you’re soon feeling lots better and get to have that angiogram. Remember- it’s just a mild Covid, the rest is just man-flu
Snap!! Both of us tested positive this week. My birthday on Sunday cancelled and am hoping the meal booked on Monday and my son's visit on Monday will go ahead. Was so sure I would be negative today but still positive. Last time I was positive for days longer than my husband.Seems a much laxer attitude and am told will be able act as normal after 5 days. Just the problem of will I be able to not feel guilty.
Hope you recover very quickly and are able to attend your appointment.
I had Covid around May this year for the first time coming up to a much needed afib nurse appointment.
I contacted her secretary and she said keep testing until the last minute as even if I let them know I have it early on the morning itself they can get someone else in to fill the appointment and make me another one.
I was really surprised on the morning itself to be clear as the day before it had been a thick red line. Used about three tests as I couldn’t quite believe what I was seeing. All negative and so relieved to be able to see her.
So sorry Bob - wishing you speedy recovery. It’s amazing how quickly you can recover so hope you make your scan, you’ve 5 days to recover so you should be clear by then.
Oh Bob that is so maddening. Does the spare room have a TV? Get out your wish list, pick up a book you’ve been meaning to read for ages and just give in to it. You won’t want to come out 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Get well soon.
Yes and Sam bought me some paperbacks (Cusler etc) when she did the shoping yesterday. Problem is my eyes are watering so much it is hard to read for very long so lots of naps going on.
Oh that’s rotten too, Bob if you can’t even read much …
I’m a second vote for audiobooks - I took out a one month free subscription to Audible when I injured my leg 8 weeks ago and have been on enforced immobility ever since. Audible has been my saving grace! (It has a range of free ‘library’ books to listen to as well as the one per month you pay for to keep).
Or of course there’s always podcasts? I find that iller I feel the more lighthearted I need the entertainment to be xx
You will be fine for your CT angiogram as the advice now is just isolate for 5 days after a positive test and not to test yourself after that. Take care.
Blimey Bob! That's a bu@@er timing. Maybe they will still be able to do it if you feel well enough as there seems to be a laissez-faire attitude to Covid, in general, but certainly in hospital.
I'm trying to avoid the lurgy as, unfortunately, another cardioversion needs doing next week.
So sorry to hear about your Covid curse! Do hope you manage to get your angiogram done next Wed! Family visitors must spoil you rotten - at a safe distance!!
Bob have you checked with your GP - nhs say certain people are candidates for antivirals if get covid! Also maybe call your radiology dept and see if they’ll rebook you asap (occasionally I’ve been able to do that by calling dept direct) Hope you feel better soon x
Latest guidelines seem to say five days after positive test carry on as normal but wear a mask for another five days . I intend to test again day before and if still positive I will ring them but hope not.
