Anyone had a cardio version for SVT also experiences with Diltiazem?

Been diagnosed with almost persistent SVT for the Last month,been very disabling, cardiologist has put me forward for cardio version and to start on Diltiazem to slow it down in the interim, anyone else had this method for SVT? Is Diltiazem well tolerated?

I’ve taken diltiazem for fast AF for years, no problem. High doses can cause constipation and or ankle swelling but preferable to racing HB (I think).

Thanks for that, I wander if a cardio version would be nessesary as well,I take flecainide for long standing PAF, and had a flutter ablation 8 years ago which cured that! Have to say SVT has been a real worry!

Have they discussed an SVT ablation with you? It's a relatively small procedure compared to an afib ablation with success rates over 90%. If successful, it would get you off the diltiazem as well.

thanks for the reply Jim, I did have a cardioversion for AF some years ago and an ablation for flutter about six years ago, I am about to start Diltiazem so see how that goes!

I took Diltiazem for 4 days and it made me dizzy, so I am now taken another beta blocker!

Hi

I had diagnosis of stroke, AF with rapid and persistent levels and 4 days in Thyroid cancer.. a shadow on thyroid in my carotid aerteries scan.

After 2 different BBs still no conreol in heart rate 185 then 156..

2 years 3 monthe went to private heart specialist.

Put me on 180mg Diltiazem .. too much.. within 2 hours down to 51!

Perfected meds

120mg Diltiazem CD morning for control h/rate now 60s Day Normal Night 47avg bpm.

2.5 Bisoprolol nighr control of BP.

No side effects with Diltiazem

but I sleep, tire aloy womder if it's Bisoprolol.
