Hi everyone, hope we are all okay.I have a Samsung Galaxy J12 and am looking at a Kardia ECG device. Anyone know if it is compatable with this phone on Android. ... can't afford a new phone as well but don't want to waste money on Kardia if i cannot use. Any advice would be welcomed as the Kardia website isn't very clear...

Kardua mobile and Samsung Galaxy J12
The following is on AliveCor's website . . .
"AliveCor KardiaMobile ECG is compatible with most recent Android and iOS phones. However we only test a limited range of phones which are listed below. If there is a compatibility issue you can return the product for a full refund."
Note: This statement also applies to the KardiaMobile 6L ECG. Your particular phone wasn't on the aforementioned list.

Hi,
I'm not an expert by any means ... but .... I wouldn't think it is compatible, the Samsung J series hit the market back in 2015 ................... I don't think Kardia - even 2 lead, had hit the market at that time, or, if it had, only just. Almost certain the 6L Kardia wasn't on the market then. So, its bad news I'm afraid.
TBH I would look at your expenditure as a long term project and if you can afford to buy a new smartphone as a first step. Then, at a later date when you can afford it buy a Kardia.
Another option of course is to buy the new phone and later on when you can afford it, buy a product like a Withings smartwatch ( or similar brand ) like the Withings ScanWatch 2 ... this device gives a range of health care features, like ECG, HR, Oxygen and it has its own App which can be installed on your (new ) phonefrom which you can see the data.

Call or email Kardia. But with some older phones, you may not be able to know until you try them. Fortunately, Kardia has a return policy.

The Kardia 6L certainly is as it uses Bluetooth to connect. It will be the app that requires a specific processor speed, I guess, and the Galaxy will pass that test easily.
As good as the device is in terms of ease of use, I switched for the Kardia as I became fed up with the ten ends a month I felt the need to pay for "Advanced Determinations" which, in the end, were anything but "Advanced". If you read online reviews you will see that this annoys many people, e.g. Trustpilot. I'm using one called Contec PM20 now which gives more results for no fee and has its own fine quality screen, so no phone is needed.
Steve
No need to pay any monthly fees with Kardia..
Do your ECG and if you are not happy with it or cant interpret it show it to your medical team, that's their job.
CONTEC PM20 sounds interesting.
Yes - you are right. I’d like to add though that the peace of mind from using a Kardia relied for me on knowing what was “going on”. And that required the monthly fee (indeed, Kardia push that really heavily) - and even that proved pretty useless since the range of arrhythmias it detects is sorely limited.
For anyone with nothing more than AF (i.e. no other arrhythmias), then, the Kardia is surely a great device. I do think an Apple Watch is vastly more useful, overall, however and is its equal in accuracy and detail.
The new Contec PM20 device is perhaps the ultimate in the sense that it is self contained yet still small and neat - and so much cheaper, too. Of course, for anyone who needs a long duration ECG, there’s only one choice, the very clever Wellue AI.

Just looking at Emay ECG portable monitor as an alternative as this can download to a PC, any comments / ideas? IT stress is not good for AF!
I bought mine from their Europe office (Contec Health). The 6-lead is only available in Europe but delivery was rapid. On Amazon, an alternative is the Wellue AI, with touchscreen, but that needs a free app on a smartphone to give the full AI diagnosis. whereas the Contec / Emay has all that on the screen of the device.
Feel free to ask any questions. I’m lucky to have been able to try several.

Hi Steve , I’m looking to buy an ECG monitor myself . Just looked up the Contec PM20 . Is the plug socket compatible to our UK ones ? ( ask as the 2 sites I’ve seen are US and Europe )
Yes that's what I have
Simple answer: The 6 lead Kardia Mobile will work, as the phone runs Android and the Bluetooth connection will be reliable. The (slightly) cheaper old 2 lead (single trace) Kardia might not, and you should avoid that unless someone else confirms that it does work with that model of phone.
Edit: Sorry, I hadn't seen the wilsond reply - yes it will work then.
My experience with AliveCor Customer Services is that they will cease to deal with you when they learn your phone is not on their approved list. Even my general inquiries about how their App worked were blocked when I mentioned my model of phone. As it happened, my phone (Moto G6 plus, 2018) is not on their list, but it still works OK. I think your phone just needs Bluetooth. Or, as was said above, just try your phone and use the returns policy if it comes to that. Kardia 6L is my recommendation, with no subscription.
Now looking at Emay ECG portable monitor as it will download to PC ... any comments? I am an IT idiot so this is stressful - just the job for AF!!
Sorry, the block on the Wellue 24/72 hour device, for me, is my lack of a computer or laptop. This means I can't download the software needed for the full AI reports, nor can I assess the talents of your "Emay ECG portable monitor as it will download to a PC"(?). You will need to ask Ppiman , our unofficial device reviewer.
Thank you for that, your advise is very reassuring
Struggling to find a UK supplier of the Emay 6 lead - is the portable still a viable indicator of AF?
Now I am confused.🤔
Are you sure your phone is a Samsung Galaxy J12? I cannot find this phone at all in a list of Galaxy J Series phones viz.
