I take a low dose 2.5 mg x 2 and have not had stomach issues

Hello,

I have been prescribed 5 mg x 2. Maybe the higher dosage has been the problem. I feel better now, however. On the other hand I may be feeling better, because I have stopped the Lansoprazole that I was taking with it. Blood tests have not shown any presence of bacteria, so I must be sensitive to the medication in some way. Or it may be stress related. Goodness knows 😀.

Thank you for your answer it was very useful.

No but already on Omeprazole. When I queried staying on this as have been taking it for over 30 years and everyone says you shouldn't my GP said keep taking it because of the Apixaban, as it protects against a gastric ulcer which could perforate and the anti-coagulant would make things far worse.

Hello,

Unhappily I discovered some years ago that I was allergic to Omeprazole, this is probably why my Doctor prescribed Lansoprazole. I have now stopped the latter and am continuing with Apixaban only. Thank you, your answer was very useful.

I am sorry to hear of your problems but can only say that though I am prone to heartburn and indigestion and take 5mg apixaban twice a day (since 2019)I have never had stomach problems attributed to apixaban. I take Gaviscon Advance before bed each night as a preventative and find this very effective.

Definitely worth talking to your GP or pharmacist to see if they have any thoughts on this. Good luck!

Thank you. I am now more or less sure, since I feel better since stopping it, that the Lansoprazole that I was taking with it is the culprit. I now just take Apixaban on its own.

Your comments re: Apixaban have been helpful.

I have consulted the doctor and have had normal blood tests re: bacteria, so I decided to do a bit of detective work re: the cause.

Probably not the Apixaban, more likely to be the Lansoprazole I take with it. Thank you.
