Yes simply change the times you take it, surely something like 8pm and 8am would be easiest?. Depends on your lifstyle of course, but an hour either way will almost certainly make no difference.

If you missed one dose by forgetting, would it be dangerous?

It would mean that you are less protected from stroke yes but there is some residual effect for some time. Dangerous is a relative term. My own view is that people are far too worried about dosage times for drugs but do understand how easy it is to become paranoid about such things.

we don't need paranoid....AF will do!  I frequently miss a dose time by up to an hour, quite accidentally, in the garden, on a train or whatever. IFrom a laypersons point of view I  do not think it matters.

It's not perfect, but it happens to most of us at some stage.

Dangerous is a relative term, yes you are less anti-coagulated, but it's not like choosing to say going to Crufts dressed as a bone :)

Ian, thank you for making me laugh out loud!

Keep well.

I take mine between 7 and 8 morning and night. The half-life of 12 hours is an estimate, and I've read it's probably 11.1/2 hours. In any event, it's only lost half it's properties by that time so it's a gradual process. I'd have thought that within an hour is perfectly accurate enough between doses. I'm NOT medical but that's what I'm doing.

I also take mine between 7am and 7.30am, depends what time I get out of bed, but I am quite an early riser, but if I have a bit longer in bed then I take it as soon as I get up, then follow up 12 hours later but don't worry too much if I am a little bit out.  Been doing this for over a year and it seems to work ok.

I'm always taking mine at irregular times even though I've put an alarm on my phone so am aware that my protection is at risk. So if you can stick to 12hourly that would be best.

Take mine 8am - 8pm but quite often an hour or so out.

I take mine at 10 and 10 but I don't stress if I miss it by an hour or even two. It definitely goes out of sync when I fly to the States but so far no problems. Wish my life was so routine that I could take it at exactly the same time each and everyday but it's not. As close as possible is the way it is for me. Patricia.

I am off to the US and wondered about timing have made a phone appointment with my doctor to ask about it.

We I started Apixaban I spoke to my GP Re the time difference. He said just take it as normal in the morning before the flight and when I'm going to bed that night in the States then as I normally do at home. With Warfarin it was a nightmare for me personally - I much prefer Apixaban.

i take mine between 7/8am and the same in the evening, however on a weekend it may change depending on the circumstance.  apixaban stops working with immediate effect after a 12 hour period but once you start you next cycle it takes effect straight away.

I take mine at 6am/ 6pm, this way it coincides with breakfast/dinner. I dont stress if i miss it by an hour though. I missed it by 6 hrs once, no side affects.

No, I don't think an hour would make any difference at all.  I have never worried about being slightly out of time with any medication, and i am over 90 yrs of age.  I take my first dose after break fast in the morning and that can be any time from 08.00 hrs to 10.00 hrs.  I take the second dose just before going to bed, which is between 10.30 hrs and 11.00 hrs.  Stick with it!!
