Sodium intake.

With a norm of 136.0-151.0, my sodium is 127 mmol/l, which means that it is below the norm.

With a norm of 3.5-5.6 potassium, it is 5.7, which is above the norm.

Does anyone here have this? Should I increase my sodium intake? Besides atrial fibrillation, I also have stage 3b chronic renal failure.

I have been told my sodium is low but not given any advice about it. A pharmacist told me it was due to taking Tegretol (anti-epileptic medication). I’ve not been given any advice regarding what to do about the level .

My sodium levels are usually low too, 127 a month ago. I had bloods taken yesterday to check as GP wants to ensure it’s not going to drop further. I don’t take much salt usually, the GP suggested I had more the night before this text. Liver and kidney function tests have been fine.

Hi

NZ has a greater variance. I would not worry. One day you could be higher and the next day a bit lower.

Potassium is in meds so check your meds. Some constipation meds have a lot of P in them.

1 point over well stop worrying. It will vary.

If you were 10 over then there would be a worry though.

Magnesium is another sometimes found in meds.

I am high in normal for both Potassium and Sodium. I don't concern with it but when offered a med with more in I question.

I'm worried about the high potassium because my cardiologist says that high potassium (over 6) causes an irregular heart rhythm. I could have an episode of Afib.

What values does your potassium have?
