D-Ribose
Good morning Pommerania78
Thank you for your post on the Atrial Fibrillation support forum about D-Ribose, we would advise you to speak with a pharmacist or GP about taking any over the counter medications, supplements, or herbal medications or new food substance if you are taking medication for AF, to insure it does not cause any adverse reaction.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

I have used D-Ribose for a number of years, mainly to counter attack the fatigue fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed with af 2 years ago and cannot see any adverse effects . When my energy levels drop it really seems to pick me up again.
Does it help with the afib and what is the dosage that you use? Thanks.
I use it everyday. I do not take any meds for heart but have had ablation and avoid known triggers. I feel it is helpful for energy production.
I'm 83 and have had ectopic beats for at least 50 years. About two years ago my ECG and EchoCG (needed before having vocal cord surgery) showed evidence of AFib (as part of arrhythmia), but I had no symptoms. I read several meta analyses (e.g., Arrigo et al Nutrition Research Reviews (2020), 33, 155–179) about CoQ10, D-Ribose and, and other nutraceuticals, and their affects on AFib. and HF more generally.
The evidence looked good for for CoQ10 and D-Ribose so I used "Cardio Defence" from Swiss BioEnergetics. I did not have heart failure so I took only one pill daily though three were recommended. I also used other supplements such as hawthorn, but not daily. I can't attribute changes to the CoQ10 and D-Ribose specifically since they were confounded with other supplements, increased exercise, and decreased alcohol. However, two weeks ago my EchoCG showed sinus rhythm and no A-Fib. My ElectroCG also showed sinus rhythm and no computer-detected A-Fib, but an EP added "suspected A-Fib".
I have yet to discuss results with a cardiologist but I shall continue with CoQ10 and D-Ribose.
Google "A-Fib, CoQq10 and D-Ribose" and you'll find lots of research results.
Good luck
Baz
Thank you for your reply. What were your other supplements and what was the dosage for the CoQ10? I still can't get over the fact that people in different continents can communicate instantaneously!!!
200mg CoQ10 and 500mg D-Ribose in Cardio Defence dose (3pills) + L carnitine 300mg, Thiamine, B6 and B12.
Where are you located? I can give more details of what else I took if we write non-publicly but I can't remember how to do that. Can you? Email OK too if you like.
Thank you for your information. Sorry for not getting back to you before this. I'm not sure how to write non-publicly. Thanks again.
I had a bad cluster of AF for 3 months with almost daily episodes, while on 200 mg of Flecainide and Bisoprolol. I got fed up and stopped the Flecainide which was obviously not doing any good anymore. I then started taking 15 grams of D-Ribose (3 x 5 grams) plus L-Carnitine plus Ubiquinol. Three days later my AF episodes stopped and I am now I permanent sinus rhythm for almost 3 weeks. I must add that at the same time I also started on Sertraline (50 mg) daily, but this medication is known to only take effect after 4 to 5 weeks, so I presume the trio Ribose/Carnitine/Ubiquinol did the trick. Certainly worth a try!
Thank you for your reply. What are the doses of the L-Carnitine and Ubiquinol? Do you think it matters if one takes CoQ10 or Ubiquinol?
