Doccla Home Monitoring

Hi All

Its been a while since I last posted but basically my AF kicked in again over a year ago and it was problematic, after swapping and changing my medication i am now on amiodarone which seems to be keeping it under control but I'm told this is not a long term fix because of the side affects of the drug, so I await another ablation.

The waiting list for another ablation could be Two years. While I wait I have received a package for home care called Doccla Home Monitoring, this is basically set of bluetooth weighing scale, kardia ecg monitor, mobile phone ,pulse oximeter, pedometer and i will report to a Cardiologist at regular intervals.

Has anyone else had this? How have they managed? The reason im on it?

Thanks Chris

Isn't it good news that a medical team will be monitoring your heart health while you wait such a long time for your ablation, rather than not?

And all this "kit" has been supplied (free to you) by a subcontractor of the NHS? That's a win then.

But it seems you weren't asked to consent to this trial/monitoring, and that's a worrying concern to raise with your GP.

I hope the kit came with instructions, sounds as though you need some.

PS See my recent post re ‘waiting times’.

The Kit came with instructions, I am good with technology but I am awaiting log on details username/password. I'm more than happy to be using this type of monitoring. if anything flags up they will react.

Had my afib eased for over a year with Amiodarone but the doctor took me off because of possible long term effects on the kidneys and other organs and bone loss. Should be ok until your ablation, and it looks like the docs are going to keep a close eye on it's affects on you

Yep I was told of the side affects and have already been caught out by the weather (bald so like a sun roof) and we are away on holiday end of the month so will have to be careful. I also benefit from a great GPs surgery who take bloods and a ecg every year and now with this Doccla my care has gone up a notch.
