Hi All,

I am pleased to announce that I had a Pulsed Field Ablation on May 20 at the Dorset Heart Centre of the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Dr Mark Sopher and his wonderful team took wonderful care of me and I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to receive this new advancement in ablation technology. Feeling great.

Best wishes to you all, Racquet.

Hi Racquet that’s exactly where I’m looking at getting a PFA. Do you know what their success rate is please. I was quoted around £19k for the procedure. Would you mind giving me an idea of what is involved please (I’m aware of the different equipment they use etc). It’s what they do when they see you, then is the ablation done under GA please? Any info would be greatly appreciated

Sorry meant to ask if you had a problem with ectopics and have they been resolved please?

Even though I'm not going into AF, I'll still get the odd run of ectopic beats now and then. Doesn't seem to concern my EP.

Thanks Racquet. Must admit my ectopics get me down. Don’t get them all the time but think they are PVC’s mostly. Read that an ablation can resolve them. Just wonder if they deal with them at the same time as dealing with the AF. Maybe it’s wishful thinking on my part. Must admit I would like to come off the medication. The flecainide does work in regard to the AF and the bisoprolol is only administered to prevent flutter but having to take them daily is a bit of a grind (but I’m not ungrateful as they do work)

In many cases, excess intake of stimulants and/or lower levels of potassium and magnesium is the cause of the PVCs.
