Firstly, thank you to all you lovely people for responding to my distress call. ❤️I went to my Cardiologists review armed with relevant questions. One thing about me I must realise I am 72 not 27 anymore......Anyway the 24 hr Holter showed 11 runs of PAF upto 13 beats( was 11 last year). Putting me on Flecainide x 2 daily. Review in 3 months time to determine what to do next if arrhythmia not suppressed. Not going to look at the possible side affects that will only heighten my anxiety. Enjoy the 🌞

Hi. Sounds like they just picked up some very short (sub clinical) episodes of afib that otherwise would have gone unnoticed. How symptomatic are you ? I ask because it sounds like daily Flecainide is very aggressive treatment for what you are describing. Also is your doctor a general cardiologist or an electrophysiologist?

Hi no symptoms last year at all but when I had an annual follow-up I had started to have ectopics rather like hiccups which at times make me jump. 50mg x 2 Flec.He is a lead Cardiologist at a N London hospital and is responsible for 100 consultants. Think he and a Professor wrote a paper about AF in athletes

Thank you for your concern

I am surprised they went straight to flecainide, but maybe your resting rate is low already so a beta-blocker couldn't be given? Did they carry out an echo before prescribing flecainide to check for this and that?
