I’ve done it but wish I hadn’t bothered as it was one of those surveys that looked as if they had decided what they wanted to prove already!

Hi

Asking the right questions.

I got stuck on who makes the decision about your heart and AF? From the start?

It was in hospital at Stroke when the ENDOCRINOLOGIST offered me Metoprolol and I said no - that it would make me breathless.

She disrespected me prescribed 3 x 27.75 and said you can reduce dosage if you like!

No follow up.

2 years 3 months I had rapid 185bpm asking for a Heart Specialist 1 years 3 months. H/Specialist public changed me to Bisoprolol and Drs raised dosage to 10mg.

156bpm Day on the 24-Heart Monitor - still not controlled.

A new Locum arrived and after a few visits recommended that I go to Dr Brandon WONG privately.

He was interested. He put me on CCB Diltiazem 180mg. Within 2 hrs at weekend H/Rate dropped to 51 and I was scared.

Over the next 5 days and I was talking to a Dr at our Healthline on Sunday and NZ Heart Foundation Nurse who had worked with Dr Wong she rang my clinic and possibly him.

My meds and dosage is now:

AM Diltiazem 120mg for control of H/Rate Moderate Release.

PM Bisoprolol 2.5mg for control of BP

Been on this regime 2 years 5 months.

After 11 mths with a change back to the safe Diltiazem 120mg and I dropped 3kg and another 3 kg..

120-140 over 69. 60s bpm Day and remain 47bpm avg Night

Also discovery of Soft Systollic Heart Murmur.

Symptom free without uncontrollable sweating due to rapid h/rate. Need to stop during walking, can't walk briskly or run. Or when exerting myself.

Thyroid cancer is back and having my 3rd scan - this one a PET scan to see where cancer return is, where its come from and where it's heading. 1 x 19mm x 9mm very suspicious and 2 lymphs starting 7mm and 6mm.

Surgeon took 12 lymphs with 2 affected.

Described as low risk for papillary return, I refused RAI treatment post thyroidectomy and suppression.

Follow Mr Gary Clayman Head of Thyroid Centre in USA with my surgeon. I keep TSH 1.7ish.

? is whether my heart was damaged by 2 years 3 months of rapid heart rate Day. I asked Cardiologist never replied but he's put it into his notes as "mismanagement of me from Stroke hospitalisation!"

One improvement was that the 2nd ECHO shows heart enlargement returned to normal fro the ECHO done in 1 year 4 months.

Still have severe dilation of Left Atrium, Right Ventricle regurgitation, slight leak Mitral Valve but Systollic pressure and function working OK.

I am not allowed cardioversion, ablation or anti-arrhymic drugs.

OK on regime of drugs including 125mg thyroxin (post thyroidectomy), diltiazem and bisoprolol for heart so I have been discharged as an outpatient! Sicker folks than me!
