Firstly, I couldn't have the usual pain relief as I am sensitive to codeine, tramadol and morphine! Anti sickness gave me an anaphylactic shock when I was 17 so they trod carefully with that one! Not sure what I had but told I had received a fair bit of sedation, I think through the mask, although they did give me diazapam into the vein.
Results - yes, if I am being honest it was a bit uncomfortable, but had a great team here in Glenfield and everyone was supportive and kept me cheerful.
Lasted around 3 hours under sedation (I don't believe I slept) but it didn't seem like it.
Didn't feel to good last night had a headache and a few flickering lights which bothered me (again I think BobD and the fact sheet said this is a possibility). Still have bit of a headache this morning but didn't sleep well as you often can't in hospital. Suppose I had the benefit of a complete bay to myself! 😀
BP a bit high this morning which is unusual for me but an excellent ECG.
Perhaps I will be better still when I have had breakfast as didn't eat much last night.
Pleased I have had it done though.
If anyone wants to know more message me, happy to share the full story 😊
For me it's just the fact someone has been 'dancing around in my heart' so expect some blips along the way during the blanking period!
Thanks again everyone that wished me luck.

Well done, make sure you rest and don’t get tempted to overdo things, especially when you get home. The sedation thing is a strange one isn’t it, you must have been asleep for a good bit of it but you don’t think you have, I was the same.
Hi there, yes Glenfield has one of the best reputations in the country for cardiac care. I have a really good consultant in Professor Andre Ng who did the ablation. They have been extremely efficient, attentive and on time with everything.
Would I do it again - yes if means a better quality of life!
well done! I am glad you have got through the procedure. I am having mine soon but I don’t know about the migraine side effects as that is what triggers my afib, migraines!! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Thank you. Yes, I have been told it can be either way. The migraine causes the afib episodes or the ablation can cause migraine aura in some people. See BobD and Jean's posts. Takes some of the pressure off when you just come out the other end.
I forget that I have had a trauma to the heart and I need to recover
Glad to hear it all went off ok. Told you you’d be well looked after by a very experienced team at Glenfield. Take care and rest for a while and expect the odd ectopic beats and you’ll be fine. Hope the Afib stays away now. All the best. Cath
