Post Second Ablation help pls

HiBeen a while since I posted. AF episodes continued so was placed on waiting list for 2nd Ablation procedure which I had yesterday.

I have been told all went well but post op notes are unclear so wondering if anyone can help understand it.

Notes say:

LA was small but had low voltage in it. Inducing AF induced Atrial Flutter with a very long cycle due to slow conduction across RA. Further ablation required at IVC end.

Atrial Myopathy hence Av Node ablation should be done if AF recurs.

The trouble is the AF episodes getting picked up by the PM in first place. When I've had them nothing seems shows on their end. The last one leading to this was picked by chance at the in person PM check.

Switch Veraprimil to Adizem XL - would love to hear experience of others on this drug therapy. I'm now taking Flecanaide, Edoxaban & Diltiazem (Adizem XL).

Would love to hear experience from people taking the meds I am.

Thankyou for reading.

I had a letter after my ablation that I had in September and I couldn’t understand the jargon either. I looked it up on Google and managed to get what some of it was about. You could also ask the Dr on your follow up appointment. It was very busy when I had mine, so didn’t really want to ask him a load of questions, although I did ask a couple.I am on Sotalol and Atorvastatin, which you’re not on and Edoxaban 30 mg, which you are. I weigh under 60kg, so they gave me the lower dose of that, but only after I pointed it out to them.It said on the tablet information about that. I have not had any problems with it. I always carry the warning card, that comes with the medication, in my phone case and if I’m going out of my area, I wear a medical alert bracelet, saying I’m on Edoxaban. I was told to stop the Sotalol, so I’m now trying to come off it, very very slowly, as I’ve been on it for years. You can’t just stop taking it suddenly. I have to take the Edoxaban for life though. Hope your ablation lasts this time.

Thankyou so much for your reply.

I carry the warning card for Edoxaban too. Like yourself I'll be on it for life I've been told.

I think I'm more confused/worried as it says I'm likely to need AV Node ablation rather than the one I've just had. Last time I spoke to the EP he was of the opinion that is the last resort and we are very far away from it. Your absolutely right I will be asking them when I'm see them which may not be for some sometime I think. Not sure when the follow up will be. I get worried as my AF episodes don't get picked up by the PM so I worry they think it's all in my head or my anxiety. Trouble is it's not hopefully now they will pay nor attention. Thankfully I seem to be getting on well with the changes in meds.

Coming off meds is difficult hope your getting on ok with that x

I am taking it very slowly. I’m on 80 mg twice a day, so am reducing it 20mg in the morning for 2 weeks, then 20mg in the evening for 2 weeks etc etc , until I’m down to zero. Will take a while, but hopefully doing it that way, I will be ok. When I had my ablation, I had to come off the Sotalol for 48 hours and my AFib started the afternoon before my ablation. They transfered me to the Glenfield hospital in Leicester, where my ablation was taking place. I was told by the Drs, that I have to go into A&E, when I get AFib, as they need to keep an eye on my BP and heart rate, as they soar. They usually give me something to try and stop it. Luckily, I didn’t get it very often. I am hoping this ablation has worked and the awful AFib doesn’t come back. At the moment, I have a bad coughing virus, caught off my grandson. My AFib started when I got a similar virus after my sons wedding in2014 and viruses seem to be one of the triggers of it, so obviously, I’m a bit worried at the moment. A urine infection has started it and Covid started it also, but so does sleeping on my left side and other times, for no reason, so you never know when it’s going to start, do you. Even though I had the ablation, it’s always there at the back of my mind, if it will come back. I suppose this is a good test for it. Wish I could just forget about it now though. Maybe in time I will. Hope you get on ok and your AFib stays away. I was ok after my ablation, apart from quite a lot of palpitations, which I was told, were normal. Helpful people on here, reassured me. You just have to take things slowly for a few days. Good luck.

Yes I find catching an infection causes me to go into AF. Unfortunately I'm asthmatic also so that tends to happen often but usually a course of steroids sorts it out rather then having to take antibiotics.

Fingers crossed for both of us this time the ablation has done the trick. When did you have yours?

Yes I'm taking it super easy but was going a bit stor crazy so went for a little walk. Came home to find it has given me legs swelling which is bizarre as I though walking helps the swelling go down.

Palpitations are not too bad dare I say at the min. Hopefully stays that way.

Hope you doing well.
