An update - I had my cardioversion privately a week ago - all good, so far….. I feel so much better. HR now around 55-60 instead of 90-100 ( on high dose drugs)
I was immediately taken off Digoxin and told to continue the BB Nebivolol 10mg a day. Then started on Flecainide 100mg daily, with the BB. I seem fine with the new medication, but nobody told me of any possible side effects and there wasn’t even any data information sheet in the box! Thankfully I seem ok. I have been experiencing headaches, but I think that is down to going onto decaffeinated drinks?? Also my tinnitus is a lot worse since my AF and the drugs I’ve been prescribed 😟

I never suffer any side effects from drugs, I am sure because I never read those paper comics that come with the pills. Many of us here I think suffer from pulsatile tinnitus which seems to go with AF. Found the best thing is to ignore it and stay busy though it can be annoying at three in the morning.
I’ve had pulsation tinnitus for several years now, but it’s so much louder now. I agree though, keep busy and it’s less apparent. On the Flecainide, I have just read some other posts, outlining a potential risk when first taking this drug. Nobody mentioned this or monitored me…
I presume that your consultant prescribed the flecainide to be taken alongside the nebivolol which is a beta blocker. This is common practise. The days of monitoring new patients in hospital are long gone.
I take it off and on after cardioversions initially a couple of years ago he started me on 100mg but made me too dopey as my normal HR is 60 and when in AF 75-85 so he reduced to 50mg and that with the BB still had my HR at 40-45. Fast forward to my latest CV a month ago and I’m on 25mg and feel fine HR is now approx 52-60 at rest. If they checked out your heart structurally and it’s ok then generally there’s not much inside effects from Flecainide
I was on 100 mg bid of flec for several years before my RF ablation Jan 31. My EP wanted me to continue with flec during the 90 day blanking period. I foolishly thought I was smarter than my Dr and just stopped flec cold turkey. A day or two later I went into afib. Needless to say I resumed flec!
