Heart not behaving

I was put on a course of setraline for pain relief and anxiety. I took the pills for four weeks but started getting lots of PVC's and runs of tachycardia so l stopped them two days ago. I couldn't get to see a doctor till today who agreed that l should stop the meds. But today I've had more PVC's and Tachycardia. I took an ECG on my Kardiamobile and noticed a long/delayed beat. Can anyone tell me what the long beat is and if it's something to be concerned about.

I can't help but will post to hopefully bring to top of board for others with knowledge to opine.

May want to check your Kardia manual and google for more info.

Thanks for that. I sent it to Kardia for review and they said it was a 2 second pause. It's the first time l have had this so it gave me a fright.

This looks like you had ectopic beats. These are premature beats that then cause a delay. The pause you show is more than usual after an ectopic beat, so I would ask your GP, but, unless these are regular, I gather they are safe.

Thanks Steve. I will send it to my Cardiologist as l cannot get to see the same GP twice in a row.

I often think that a GP can be an excellent source for help with this kind of thing since they see so many people over the long term with arrhythmias. A specialist tends to see more serious cases but only over the short term.

You might be right unfortunately at my local GP surgery most of the 'older' doctors have retired and we have had a number of younger doctors taking their place.

I think that might be happening in many doctors’ surgeries (as well as dentists’ and schools, too). The pandemic hastened it. It’s such a shame.

I have that with PACs and ectopics. The EP wasn’t concerned

Interesting. I'm pretty sure my EP will say the same.
