I am checking my INR every 3 days and it has dropped to 1.9 and I have to be in range for Tuesday 30 Jan when I am booked for an ablation . I was advised to take an extra 0.5 warfarin 2 nights ago but it has dropped from 2.0 to 1.9 I cannot understand as usually I am 2.4 ish but wondering if it could be that I have been drinking Kefir for stomach bloating and gas. Anyone else had a connection with probiotics and Warfarin INR dropping? I won’t be drinking kefir this weekend after Googling result says could alter INR but don’t know if I should take another 0.5 extra dose and as it’s weekend can’t contact phlebotomy until Monday.

having ablation and INR has dropped
Everyone is different but my OHs INR was1.9 last week, increased his dose by 1mg still 1.9 this week so increased another 1 mg this. Now 4 days 7 and 3 days 6 this week. This is just an example and certainly not advice. Depends what your usual dose is of course. We are never prescribed 0.5mg in our surgery but my friend's husband is at his.
If you are self testing I would go at least an extra 1mg. You don't want to miss the ablation by not being in range. Do not worry about going too high in a day or so. Unlikely to happen from my own experiences. (based on a daily dose of 4mg)
Mine was 1.6 this past weekend so they told me to take increase my normal 5mg with a half tablet or 7.5mg. My problem was that I over did it with collard greens. I had some left over from earlier in the week, then, with my wife away from home, I just settled for the left overs without thinking of the consequences. Greens are high in vitamin k, which thickens the blood.
Sorry, I did not check my email over the weekend and was out of town myself Monday. Hope you were able to have the ablation. I had one back in June of 2022. Seems to have worked well for me. I'm rarely aware that I am having Afib.
