Aw so sorry. You have been so supportive and helpful to me ,and many others. Your humour and kindness has been much appreciated. I expect that the recent Rulings have pushed this. So sad.

Sorry that you are leaving flapjack.

Agree it seems daft for a medical self help group to require approval of medical links that support the purpose of the group. Admin should be about removal of inappropriate content like commercial advertising, which that obviously isnt.

Thanks for all your help - why not start a more appropriate group and we will all join!

cuore profile image
cuore in reply to AKatieD

If the reason for Flapjack leaving is due the administration's action of some approval of publicly published medical links, especially those in academic journals, then that is sad. As a PhD, I presented in a post the authority which was a medical journal. I was admonished by administration for doing so ( I believe I was admonished , so it I took it the wrong way, I apologize to administration). Subsequently, I felt I could not comprehensibly contribute, so I curtailed almost all my replies to almost zero. I did have a lot to contribute because I have had three ablations but I could not honestly answer with my hands tied. Nevertheless, I choose and still wish to remain on the blog. It is a good blog and it really helped me a lot in my time of need, especially when medical links were posted. I have no idea how long it would take to get the approval of a medical link about the article I would wish it incorporate, plus the time and effort to ferret finding this approval, so I choose to subdue my interaction.

Hi Flapjack 🙂 I have ben around forums for a long time, there are days when it is easy to get angry and disillusioned and you want to walk away. It can help to have a short break to gather your thoughts and regain your composure particularly if you have AF and need to avoid stress.

On this forum in particular, when 'things' get too much I remember why I am here, to help and support those like myself diagnosed with AF nothing else matters.

I remember when I was first diagnose with AF almost 7 years ago , the locum GP I saw was useless and didn't explain anything just saying 'You have been diagnosed with AF have you heard of it' I had vaguely . She told me to go and look it up on the internet also CHADS because I needed an anticoagulant. That is when I found this forum and I don't know how I would have managed without it and the knowledgeable members who make it what is is . The forum would be nothing without its members and we need everyone who can contribute including yourself .

Sorry to see you go FJ.

Now that you no longer have AF perhaps it's the time to go and enjoy yourself with your lovely wife and your motor home. Get out there and make the most of life while you can and let me know if you ever come to my neck of the woods. I know you have had a very stressful few years, so make time for yourself and leading a good life doing things you want to do now.

Best wishes.

I hope you rethink taking part on the forum after a break.I've had to take them myself from time to time when changes or posts start to get too stressful.

I know rule changes can be frustrating, especially when they seem to get in the way of important or easy information sharing , but unfortunately, sometimes a rule that makes bona fide contributors need to jump through a few extra hoops to add content can be necessary if it means it helps more vulnerable users to not get led to inappropriate advertising or links which could be harmful or offensive added in less watchful replies.

You can see that you contributions , whether they include links or not are highly appreciated and valued by the members of the forum by reading all of the messages you have received , so it would be a great shame to lose your experience permanently.

Take care , take a break and I hope we see your replies again soon , hugs , Bee

cuore profile image
cuore in reply to Blearyeyed

I am concerned about your comment " led to inappropriate advertising or links ." Hopefully a link to a published medical journal that incorporates especially recent trials is not what the administration is also asking for in a previous reply that I read. It is sad if this were the position administration has taken. Those trials need to be read to keep up with AF advancement in understanding and treatment.

Sorry to see you go, there is life after health unlocked, I only appear rarely, just by chance came across the "no links without permission". From Flapjack to all who responded here:

Hiyer, I left the AF forum yesterday, so can no longer contribute but because I have an interest in two other non AF forums, my name and hopefully all my posts and factsheets etc., are still visible.

I have also seen all the incredible responses which really mean a lot to me and Mrs FJ, who has seen them too.

I don’t show up here often anymore, because I’ve only had 1 brief and quite low 148 bpm incident in 3 years so didn’t want to bother folks who had full on AFIB constantly. Even my GP asked if I wanted to get off the meds..told him not right now. He suggested reducing the dosage to see what effect if any it had. It didn’t go well, so back on regular dosage…all good.

Flapjack, you were one of the first to reach out when I was a scared and confused newb. You and others calmed my nerves, and provided a wealth of information and links.

Thanks so much for that. Enjoy your time away from the digital madness 👍
