Ablations booked

Well, before Christmas had various appointments for Haemochromatisis and cardiology. Last year had more AF episodes than I realised till I looked at the heart ap. saw Consultant Cardiologist who referred me to The Prof for ablation consideration, looked like best option in case AF becoming permanent. So today it’s booked 20/2 😳

I’d even seen consultant on NHS just before Christmas, that was a surprise, thought I’d have a long wait, he’d said the same, ablation but could be at least 3 months.

I’m in Berkshire, private cardiologist referred me to Professor who he knows 🤷🏼‍♀️ He’s also a Bart’s professor.

I was like 😳 when got NHS appt within 6-8 wks most, said to GP I’ve had nothing from NHS in decades as hubs has always had health care insurance. Thing with that is NHS has no records🤷🏼‍♀️ But told 3 months for NHS ablation and no guarantee who does it. And looking at the strikes could be LOT longer, meanwhile it gets worse and less effective

Lacey Lady,

Very glad for you ..... Berkshire, Hmmmm sounds like a postcode lottery then, I'm in one of the poorest counties in UK ( Cornwall ). I'm originally from Surrey and I'm wondering what patients experience in that home county. I suspect better than here in Cornwall. Wishing you well with your treatment.

I’m going privately in London, Prof is from Bart’s. I’d been to Royal Berks consultant and he’s referred me to Barts. I’ve yet to get the insurance to agree but will cancel NHS as I won’t get the Prof or anyone I know. I’ve negative history with medics so trust is hard.

So you might look at Barts

Thank you for your reply. I would consider Barts but ,it's a bit further away from Devon where I live and I'd have to do the NHS route. So thinking..J.R or perhaps Bournmouth. Would like to check out Pulse Field ablation more .Sorry about your negative experience, I agree totally, it would be nice to know who will be doing procedure and have a good rapport with them. Wishing you well for February.

Barts is the NHS referral. Professors and consultants work in both private and NHS
