I hope everyone had a happy Christmas/holidays/festivities.
I am pretty sure I read something in the forum ref m6 question but can’t seem to find it now, so apols for asking again.
I am in persistent AF and symptoms are pretty much constant with dizziness and lightheaded from Diltiazem, I am not on blood thinners.
Away on hols in Canaries and come down with cold… I think I read somewhere on here that Night & Day cold tablets (and other such) should be avoided as could bring on incidents of AF. Presumably due to caffeine in them??
As I am in permanent AF I wouldn’t think taking them could make my AF any worse tha it already is…if I was in Uk I would call my docs but a bit more difficult here. Alternatively I can stick with paracetamols ….
Ultimately I will take my own counsel but wondered if anyone else can contribute please?
Many thanks 🙏

For a cold we can take paracetamol, (severe codeine, tramadol)
My severe cold carried on with thick mucus so when blood showed I had it tested at lab. Results were many cocci (which is a fungi) and pneumonia strain.
I was given Amoxil for 5 days and it cleared.
No sore throat only thick stuff which I couldn't produce much but how water, lemon and honey a saver. I drunk McCoys Dark Grape Juice but watered it down to go further.
Cold remedies are dodgy where AF is concerned - two brands I know of are Night Nurse and Conova cough syrup, both of which are not advised.
I agree with Bob - paracetamol, honey, hot drinks and some fresh air. I love a hot water bottle on my lungs - probably doesn't help but feels comforting. If you are in doubt about any ingredients, Google the Safety data sheet for the relevant one - this will give you an idea about its side effects.
Unless temperature is so high it is making you feel really ill taking paracetamol to reduce it is counterproductive. Fever is the body's mechanism to destroy bugs - they cannot reproduce at high temperatures. So taking antipyretics just prolongs the time the bug is active and reproducing in your system. If your afib is persistent you don't have to worry about the fever tipping you into afib ( as happened to me when I had the horrible cold and cough going round last week ) . Ginger tea with lemon and honey is a good remedy.
stick to Paracetamol only.phenylephedrine and caffeine not good with A F. Night Nurse one of the worst. Anti inflammatory s not good either may burn your gut and cause a bleed.
